Balkandgi Yovo
Balkandgi Yovo is an old Bulgarian poem based on a story from 18th century when the Ottoman empire has been conquered Bulgaria and dark times have come for the people for hundreds of years (1396-1878).
Balkandgi Yovo and Yana are brother and sister who have been caught by Turkish soldiers who tortured Balkandgi Yovo to give his sister to them. It’s a dramatic and tragic story how Turkish hurt his eyes and cut off his arms and legs only and only let him agree. A grim memory of the Ottoman invasion of Europe…
